Chanson d'Automne
Les sanglots longs
Des violons
De l'automne
Blessent mon coeur
D'une langueur
Monotone.
Tout suffoquant
Et blême, quand
Sonne l'heure,
Je me souviens
Des jours anciens
Et je pleure.
Et je m'en vais
Au vent mauvais
Qui m'emporte
Deçà delà,
Pareil à la
Feuille morte.
Automn Song
Translated by Christiane
Autumn violins'
Long sobs
Hurt my heart
With a monotonour
Languor.
Suffocating
and pale, when
Time strikes
I remember
The olden days
And I weep.
And I go
In the mean wind
Which takes me away
Here and there
Like the
Dead leaf.
