Thank You Kevin (13 February 2008)

Yes I often wonder why there is so much suffering
in our beautiful world.
But on this last Wednesday
13 February 2008
Something great happened
in the wonderful country of Australia.
Do you believe in miracle?
Oh few of us do!

But miracles do occur
when men and women realise
They can change many things.
Yes this happened last Wednesday
When Mr Rudd, the Prime Minister
humbly and from the bottom of his heart
Says: "I say: "I am sorry""

Sorry for what past governments
Did to our Aboriginal Brothers and Sisters
in the name of the good.
But how could it be good
to snatch a child from its mother
Its whole family, its culture?

But this was Yesterday
Today is a new day
as their suffering has been at last recognised
Officially, publicly.
Alas! Nothing can erase the trauma
Those children and families have endured.

But what matters now is to see
the Aboriginal community
with the eyes of the heart
and ensure that every one in Australia
has equal rights to a long and beautiful life
where skin colour, religion, and culture
Only enrich our beautiful country.

Bravo Kevin, Bravo my fellow Australians!
You made my day, the days of so many Aborigines
The days of so many Australians, on this Wednesday.
This is really a time of change
And now we have hope.

Yes, some leaders care!
But incredibly, some leaders honour their promises
And act with simplicity and love
Above all They are Our Leaders!
Chosen by a majority of Australians
Proving that we live in a country
Where marvellous people care.

Yes I am proud to be a citizen of such a great country!
And though I, as many others had
Nothing to do with the awful wrong done in the past,
I also say to you all "I am sorry"
Long Life Australia, its Leaders, its People!

Oui je me suis bien souvent demandée
Pourquoi il y a tant d'horreur dans ce monde si beau?
Mais mercredi dernier, le 13 Février 2008
Quelque chose a changé
Dans ce beau pays qui est l'Australie
Croyez vous aux miracles?
Beaucoup d'entre nous voudraient y croire!

Oui, les miracles peuvent exiter
Quand Hommes et Femmes s'unissent
Pour changer le monde
Et c'est arrivé Mercredi dernier .
Quand Mr Rudd, notre Chef d'Etat
En toute humilité et du fond de son coeur
A dit: "Je suis désolé"

Désolé pour ce que les gouvernements
Ont fait à nos Fréres et Soeurs Aborigènes
Au nom du Bien!
Mais comment peut-on appeler Bien
Arracher un enfant à sa mère
A sa famille, à sa culture!

Mais c'était hier
Et aujourd'hui se lève un jour nouveau
Car leur souffrance a enfin été reconnue
Officiellement, publiquement.
Hélas ! Ceci n'effacera jamais le trauma
Que toutes ces familles ont enduré.

Mais ce qui importe maintenant
C'est de voir la communauté Aborigene
Avec les yeux du coeur
Et de s'assurer que tous et toutes en Australie
Ont droit à une longue et merveilleuse vie
Où la couleur de la peau, la religion, et la culture
Ne font qu'enrichir notre beau pays.

Bravo Kevin ! Bravo Amis Australiens !
Pour moi, pour tant d'Aborigènes,
Et pour tant d'Australiens;
Ce mercredi restera à jamais dans nos coeurs !
Et nous apporte l'espoir.

Oui certains Leaders ont de la compassion.
Mais surtout certains Leaders honorent leurs promesses
Et agissent avec simplicité et humilité.
Mais le vrai miracle est que ce sont Nos Leaders !
Elus par une majorité d'Australiens
et ceci prouve que nous vivons dans un pays
Où les gens veulent aussi changer le monde
Pour le meilleur.

Oui je suis fiere d'être citoyenne d'un si beau pays !
Et bien que comme beaucoup d'autres
Je n'ai aucunement contribué
Au malheur de mes Frères et Soeurs Aborigènes,
Je leur dis aussi à tous du fond de mon coeur :
"Je suis désolée et
Vive l'Australie, ses Leaders
Vive les Australiens
Et merci Kevin.
